It's been a crazy couple of weeks. We finally finished the Bella Vista building project to where it is now in the hands of the local water board to provide a welded, lockable gate to secure the unit when we install it. Christine and the girls along with Jen are out at the school today finishing up the Health and Hygiene, and sanitation aspect of the project.
The building was a real challenge, with me doing about 3 days solo, and most of the project with one local guy named Marco Tulio. There were punctuated days of other assistance, including two heavy days for the floor and the roof, coming from a few teachers and about 6 students. Thank God for this, because we were able to do a "bucket brigade" for all the concrete work. Roel was involved as often as he could, working like a dang mule every time he was there. He can sling brick and steel all day. We are both getting so buff we don't need a gym membership!
We learned a lot on this project, more cost effective ways to finish the building, and how to utilize the locals and their skills on a pay basis to drastically reduce the time and the struggles of working an hours drive a way.
We had a great time at a youth event at the local YWAM base called LEGACY. This event happens twice a year or more, and changes location so more youth across the country can attend. I can not express how much that weekend blessed me. Christine and I had a chance to pray one on one with the kids that wanted to receive a parental blessing. The majority of these kids do not have a father, and often lack a mother at home to send them out into the world with the biblical blessing so often seen in the old testament. How can we expect this generation to be a legacy maker, with no legacy of their own? So we prayed as Abraham, Noah, Elisha, Samuel, David and so many others would have done. We prayed for strong minds and hearts, for Godly character to shine in their lives. That the boys would be the husbands their future wives deserved, and that the girls would be the wife of purity that their future husbands deserve. We prayed that they would be fruitful with their education and hands, that their spiritual territory would be increased as they walk the halls of their schools, and the trash filled streets of their villages. That they would, as I close every letter, e-mail and blog I post, BE the standard in their homes and towns.
I was moved beyond tears as we prayed and sent them out, as adopted sons and daughters, and we as stand in prophets. I prayed no less sincerely or intensely for them as I would my own daughters. And THAT my friends, is where God reigns eternal. There are no fatherless motherless children, only those that have not been found by we, the church, yet. Keep your spiritual eyes open people, the mission field is not here in Belize, it's right outside your door.
BE the standard
